Kick Your Ass Arm Workout

My friend Lori is a workout superstar! She knows I was down about this whole boot on my foot and not able to do any cardio and earlier this week she said through Facebook Chat, ” Oh nelly girlfriend, you GOTTA try this arm workout. It will blow your mind.” Well I don’t think she really said that but that is how I translated it :). So I pull up the YouTube and I think to myself, “Surely this tiny little thing waving her arms around cannot give me a truly effective workout.”

So I started on my journey of standing and waving my arms around like I am the next arm workout queen.  I hit 3 minutes in to it and I’m thinking how tired my arms are.  I hit 5 minutes and I’m wondering what kind of thing this woman is teaching that my arms are ready to fall over.  And I couldn’t even finish this 8 minute workout on my first day. So I went back to Lori and her and I decided that we are going to do this workout for 30 days straight.  I’ve already done this 2 days in a row and I’m ready to rock the rest of my   arm workout days.

Commit To Yourself – It’s Time For A Change

commit to yourselfThere comes a time.  Yes, a time where you choose to commit to yourself and you choose to stick with it. I was the type of person who wouldn’t stay true to my commitments when it came to food and really learning about my body. In the last 6 months, that has changed drastically.  I have now started listening when my body doesn’t like a certain foods.  And I have noticed what exercises work best for my body. The thing is, before that I was eating chocolate every day, sneaking in this and that and saying its okay because I had a great workout!

That isn’t okay for me. Now before you get your undies in a bundle, I’m not saying I don’t enjoy treats every now and again, but I am saying that I choose to be more food conscious (very little processed foods, eating more veggies and protein) as much as I can. It’s amazing what happens when you choose to commit to yourself.  I have more energy (except on the nights my daughter refuses to sleep) and I feel better about myself. I feel more accomplished.

Accomplishment

When I finish something I start, when I lose the weight I want to lose, when I think about where I have come from and how far I’ve come, I feel that sense of accomplishment. Nothing beats that feeling of knowing you did something you said you were going to do and then watching it blossom and turn out how you wanted it to turn out because you pushed yourself.

Eliminates That Little Voice

All of us have that voice in our head that tells us that we cannot, tells us that we do not have what it takes. What a great way to shut that voice up by actually doing it, by trying to do what you are committing to do.  And when you try and/or finish what you are trying to do, a little part of that voice goes away. Everything you accomplish that you set out for yourself (not what other set out for you) will quiet that voice more and give you the confidence you need to create bigger goals for yourself.

These are just a couple of reasons you should really buckle down and commit to yourself and set goals that you want to achieve. I have found when I told the outside noise (of negative people in my life) to back off or I just don’t talk to them that I get more accomplished because I am focusing on me, my family and our future.  Do you find that to be true too?
