7 Day Cleanse – How To Lose 5-10lbs

So I have a mommy weight loss group on Facebook and we all support each other with healthy eating tips, work out tips, motivation, etc.  Well, a lot of us have decided to do a cleanse.  At first, I was going to do the Master Cleanse and I realized I cannot drink lemonade mixed with maple syrup and cayenne pepper for 5 days… this girl does not work that way :).

So today, one of my mommy friends posted a different cleanse.  She posted about a 7 Day Cleanse that she did and I had never heard of it before. While the goal for some is to lose 10lbs in 7 days, that is NOT my intentions. I honestly just want to get rid of  buily up toxins out of my body and I want to try something new, but I am not going to risk losing all of my muscle built up because of my lack of protein. So I have altered the days a little to get that added protein in. Also, I will be maintaining a minimum of a 1200 Calorie diet and I will be monitoring it through My Fitness Pal.  Here is the agenda for the 7 Day Cleanse:

Day 1

This is a fruit only day, except for bananas. You do NOT eat bananas but any other fruit that you want to eat. I will be stocked up with kiwi, watermelon, grapes, cantaloupe, blueberries, mangos, strawberries, raspberries, plums, apples etc.

For breakfast and lunch I will have one of my delicious Body By Vi shakes (go check them out! They really do taste like cake and you get FREE coaching from me!) mixed with either orange juice (no pulp and no sugar added) or water.  I won’t add fruits to the shakes though.

For my snacks and dinner, it will be all fruit, all day :)

I will be drinking 80-100oz of water to flush out the toxins as well. Another thing I will be drinking is Green Tea. Green Tea is one of the healthiest weight loss drink. If you have around 3 cups a day, you could burn 80 calories just by drinking green tea. Not bad huh?

Day 2

Veggie Day!  What I read is that you want to stay away from starchy vegetables like beans, peas and corn.  Any other veggies, bring it on!  You can have a baked potato with a little butter too :).

Veggies I will have: Carrots, broccoli, cabbage, kale (in my shake), cauliflower, green peppers, red peppers, orange peppers, yellow peppers, celery and cucumbers.

Again, I’ll have my 2 shakes,  1 will have kale in it and the other will be plain. I’ll have 80-100oz of water and 3-5 cups of Green Tea.

Day 3  (Check out my Day 1-3 update here)

Veggies and Fruit day.  No baked tater today…sorry!  Any fruits, except bananas and any veggies and try not to eat starchy veggies.

My 2 shakes, water and tea are still on my agenda :)

Day 4

Today is supposed to be banana and yogurt day, but I hate milk (except for almond milk) and what do I hate more than milk? Yogurt! So today is where I’m going to change it up.

I will be eating 8-10 bananas today and I will have 3-4 shakes plain. I figured they are healthier than yogurt and I’ll be getting in my almond milk.

I will still have my water and tea.

Oh, random break… I would add some working out too.  Here is what I’m doing this week for my weekly workout.  Now back to the diet.

Day 5

Fowl and Tomatoes day. So today is going to be hard and easy. You can eat chicken and turkey and 6 tomatoes.  It says that you should drink 8oz of water after each tomato you eat to wash the uric acid out of your body.

Chicken is not going to be a problem, I love love love chicken. I could live off of that and spaghetti for the rest of my life. I do not like tomatoes, so I am going to have to be creative about eating it.

Water and tea are the same.

Day 6

Fowl and veggies.  You get chicken, turkey and all the veggies you want, except no potatoes today. This is a pretty self-explanatory day and another one that will be easy for me :)

Water and tea still the same. I’ll have 80-100oz and 3 glasses of green tea.

Day 7 (check out my day 4-7 update here)

MIRACLE SOUP!  So today you create a miracle soups.

Ingredients:

  •  2-3 onions chopped
  • 1 head of cabbage chopped
  • 1 green pepper chopped
  • 5-6 celery stalks chopped
  • 2 large cans of diced tomatoes
  • 2 packages of Lipton Beefy Onion Soup Mix

Put all hte chopped veggies in a big pan.  Add the tomatoes (after you have blended them in a blender for a minute) and stir together.  Put 4-6 cups of water, it should barely cover the veggies. Cook for 10 minutes and then add the Onion Mix and cook until veggies are tender.

If you are looking for a great protein shake to go with this cleanse, please check out my ViSalus shakes and what they do for you. They are amazing and you get a whole private FB support system and FREE coaching from me.

Need motivation to get started with this, go check out my blog on changing.

Or better yet, do you need coaching?  If you can’t do this alone and you need help, check out my coaching options.

DISCLAIMER:  I will not and do not suggest under 1200 calories with this diet, but I think that “shocking” your body once would help it off of that weight loss plateau.  I DO NOT recommend this more than once or twice.  You do not want to deprive your body of true nutrients.  I also do take a multi-Vitamin and Vitamin D as well.

Enjoy!

Stop Beating Yourself Up – You Freaken Rock!

I went for a walk with my family today and for some reason I was thinking about my weigh in on Monday.  I was thinking, I cannot stand to see another standing still week, it would make me feel bad.  I am working so hard to get where I need to and yet its not showing in the numbers.  I thought, what could I do differently? And while I was trying to process those thoughts, my son wanted to show me the spider web on the bridge and I was lost back in my family and looking at things.

Fast forward to Monday,  that dreaded weigh in day.  I can’t even imagine what it was going to say.  Hell I got my period so I figured I was going to gain weight.  I get ready to step on and I think, does that number really matter?  I actually laugh out loud.  I feel helpless and sad that I am so obsessed with the scale, but my OCD makes me get on it anyway. I mean, I can’t not know what I weigh. Right? So to my surprise I dropped over 1lb.  I am officially at 141.8, I was semi excited and then instantly sad because I wasn’t under the 140 mark again.

As I am doing my semi happy losing weight dance, I stop and yes, I truly stop in the middle of getting low. While I was so focused on the weight loss, I completely didn’t even realize for weeks I had been under my pre-pregnancy weight from my first child. With Cameron (my son and first born) I was 153 on the day I found out I was pregnant with him.  I am back to my ending college weight and I didn’t even realize how big of an accomplishment that was because I was too focused on the things I was not accomplishing.  I fit in to pants that I wore in college, I have energy again, I feel happy, I love going out and playing with my kids.  Why am I not celebrating that? Why aren’t you celebrating things you are proud of?

That is a picture of me in pants from college. Those are Silver Jeans that one of my very best college friends, Alicia, let me borrow and I forgot to give them back.  I might still have that muffin top, but hot damn, I haven’t worn them in 7 years. That is amazing progress!

What about you?  Stop beating yourself up.  You will hit each milestone as you continue your journey.  YOU ROCK! Celebrate every milestone you hit.  You and your body deserve that celebration.

Write down 3 things you’re proud of and do a happy dance! I’ll do a happy dance for you too!

Are You Living The American Dream Or Are You Living Your Dream?

As I have been thinking about what I want for my life, for my kids life, I have been pondering.  So many people say they are living the American Dream.  What really is the American Dream that so many of us talk about?

Chad works an hour away and so he sees the kids for 1 – 2 hours a day.  Every night when they go to bed, he is sad because he didn’t get to spend enough time with them. I am sad because we don’t always get to eat dinner as a family or do quality family things until the weekend when he has 2 days off.  Over the past years, I have really thought and examined what we classify the American Dream.  Is it where we work for someone else 20-40 hours a week to get a pay check?  Then after doing that for 40 years — you know, going to work when they tell you to go to work, coming home when they tell you that you’re coming home and taking vacation if they “approve” the vacation you earned — you finally could, not 100% sure, get a pension to help you and collect social security that probably won’t be there when you retire.

So not only are we making someone else money and being loyal to them, but we aren’t even guaranteed to have money when we retire.  I am still wondering how we call that the American dream.  You know, I refuse to call that the American Dream.  My dream is for Chad and I both to be home to take care of our family, go on vacations, school trips and do what we want when we want. I love staying home with my kids and watching them grow, I would love for their dad to be there too and not just support the family by “working the American Dream.”

My dream is not to have to wake up to an alarm clock, for Chad not to freak out when he has to use sick time when something happens (just in case something else happens during the year), for us to be able to wake up and just road trip if we wanted to.  I love working from home and I know Chad would love to work at home and make enough money so he can do his dreams too.  In my heart, that is what I want.

I am thankful I found a company that will allow us to do that eventually.  I understand when you have a business, it isn’t going to happen overnight, but I truly believe in my heart in a product that helps people.  If you want to create your own dream while helping people, please message me support@visalusbyshay.com, call me at 262-501-2088 to ask me about my product and my business opportunity or leave a comment.  You could also checkout my website at Conquer The Challenge and see what amazing things we have to offer.

My intention is to stop living the “American Dream” and start living my dreams. What’s yours?

Join Me For My Weight Loss Webinar Explaining my 90 Day Challenge

I love this company more and more every day and I cannot wait for you to find out why you will love it too.  Not only do I have more energy when I take my shakes, but I work with some awesome people and the owners are pretty easy on the eyes too.

Delicious, huh?  Yep, I know! Anyway,  I do not just do the weight loss portion, I do the business portion. Honestly, last year I lacked at what I was supposed to with weight loss because of my lack of schedule and self-control.  This year is going to be different because there has been a fire lit under my ass and I am ready to do this for me.

What I love is that, this company went from $31 million sales in 2010 to over $230 million in sales om 2011.  The celebrities that are on the challenge and promoting it for FREE is amazing too: Hulk Hogan,  Pro MMA Fighter Rich Rigmaden, Alfonso Ribeiro — yes Carlton from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air,  Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Brandon Vera, Delaney Cattano and those are just a few of the names on the challenge and/or promoting it.

I want to help you make an informed decision about Visalus and the 90 Day Challenge which is why I am going to be hosting a webinar this Wednesday at 8pm CST.  I will go over what Visalus is, how it works and pricing for these amazing shakes.  It will be an hour at the most and super informational.

You can access the webinar here by clicking here.   When you come, make sure you enter as a guest and please have your questions ready.  I love answering questions and if I do not have the answer, I will find it for you.

I’d love to have you… I can’t wait to see you there :)

And The Bets Have Begun! It’s On Like Donkey Kong

So Chad and I are going to duke it out.  We are going to go by the most body fat lost because he has a greater advantage for weight loss, but of course I never turn down a friendly bet.

It is going to be super fun, I think. Now that I am learning healthier meal selections and I am learning portion controls, I think I have an advantage. Chad was taught to clear his plate no matter what’s on it (a couple extra scoops won’t hurt, right? :P) and I was a picky eater so I only eat/ate what I want. That part will be an advantage to me.

So we are going to start Sunday, January 29th and we are going to start with 30 days because I am too antsy to wait the full 90 days. Here is the layout of our bet:

  • Each of us gets at least 3 days a week to workout, whether its taking a class, playing basketball or going to Anytime fitness.
  • Our weekly weigh in, pictures and BMI calculating will be done on Sundays
  • We get two super cheat days which is Super Bowl Sunday and if we do something for Valentine’s day.
  • Visalus shakes will be taken twice a day for me, Chad just does one day because he’s cheap like that :)

So these are the basics and I am ready to show Chad up.  Not only am I taking Zumba, Pump and Combo Class, but I am doing the Couch to 5k training.

What will the winner win?

The winner wins a night out on the town with a healthy meal and the loser has to shell out the cash for that night.  Uh oh, Chad, all I hear is your wallet saying KaChing.

The winner also gets a separate night out to do whatever they want without the kids.  My my, do I hear spa day, dancing night and Olive Garden in my future?  Oh you bet your booty I do.

Stay tuned for pictures on Sunday and get ready to take a seat and enjoy watching me kicking my dear darling’s rump.
