Will I Lose Weight (And Keep It Off) By Adding Exercise?

Good question, huh?  Will you lose weight and keep it off?

What’s the answer? Nope!  This is something I have learned time and time again.  People want to change, they want, no NEED that weight to come off so they figure if they addlose weight in some workouts each week and that because they lose 10lbs they are good to go.

The funny thing is, the moment that the workouts stop, it will all come back. Why? Because you aren’t changing your food.  Did you know that food is at least 70% of your weight loss?  That is at least 70%, others think its more than that.

Weight watcher meals, pills and magical fairy dust isn’t going to keep the weight off if you aren’t making it a lifestyle change.  I had to learn that the hard way.  Before I started my shakes, I thought I was eating pretty healthy only to find out (fortunately we have a naturopathic doctor on my team to keep me in check) that I wasn’t eating healthy at all. Having pastas, whole wheats, etc every day was why I wasn’t losing my belly fat. But I was working out, so the weight should have just flew off, right?  No, your body is meant to survive on certain nutrients that aren’t always in foods, or should I say the foods that we are eating.

If you want to keep the weight off, in my opinion there are 3 major factors that you need to look at.

How To Lose Weight And Keep It Off

  1. Protein – Protein is what your body thrives on. You need at least 65% of your body weight in protein for your weight to stay off.
  2. Water – You need 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water for your body to be hydrated.
  3. Breakfast – Having breakfast increases your metabolism and sets the tone for your day. If you wait until 11 or 12 to finally eat, you are going to want to eat everything in site and your metabolism is already slowing down which slows down your weight loss.  When you start your day right, you feel so much better.

There are more factors but for now in what I’m learning these are some of the most important factors for weight loss.  It’s not just about weight loss, its about a lifestyle change.  With new customers coming on with me, I focus on creating a lifestyle change so taking a protein shake every morning gets you in a habit.  As you change habits, you change yourself and that builds the confidence that you want.

If you want to take the breakfast challenge with me, let me know!  I’m offering free nutritional coaching to my customers to get you headed in the right direction.  You don’t want to do this alone and I’ll be a positive motivator for you!

2013 January Book Choices

I have some book choices for this year.  This year I’m going to be focusing on business, motivation and really learning about myself. Last year was literally one of the best years of my life and I want to follow it up with an even greater year.

The one thing that was missing last year was having great book choices.  I chose books and I didn’t read them so this is my biggest goal this year.  After going to seminars, listening to over 40 webinars, learning about everything business and motivation-wise, I learned that in order to be successful you have to read books. Yep, it sounds silly, but its true.  You cannot expect to be better if you aren’t learning how to be better.  So here is my list.  I have a total of 24 books I want to read, but 12 for this business.  I’ll be posting each month which books I intend to read and then I’ll post the other list at my motivation and coaching website.Good book choices

January Book Choices

1. The 10x Rule: The Only Difference Between Success and Failure — I am listening to this book right now and I am in love with this book. I’m seriously in love with this book. I do not suggest reading it, but I suggest listening to it because the author adds some extra personality in it while he’s reading it. This book/audio is something that has really spoke to me and I’m thankful that it is my first book of the year.

This is a true no BS book that makes you want to take action. When he reads you can just feel it and it has been a really long time since I have “felt” a book. For someone truly needing a mental push that will challenge you (as I needed), this is your book.  If you’ve read this, please share how you feel, did it help you?

2.  The Power of Discipline – 7 Ways It Can Change Your Life –  This book is another one that could change your life. It’s a short book, but it truly packs a punch.  From the first page, it helps you to open your eyes to what you are currently doing.  The Power of Discipline really has you moving outside of your comfort zone – yep, you need to get out of your comfort zone. How do I know? You”re reading this ;) .

Goals Book ChoiceSo many of us just keep our goals in our head because we are afraid of success. This book walks us through writing out our goals, creating a timeline and writing down what we can do to complete the goals.  I believe these 2 books are what’s going to set me up for success for the year.

I believe that its all about mindset, goals and actions.  I want to make sure that I have the right mindset going in to the year so I am not one of the people who are stopping my goals/resolutions 2 weeks in to the new year!

Those are my first 2 books for January,  I don’t want to over extend myself because I truly feel that this year is meant for me to expand my business, myself and my relationship with God so I’m keeping it “real” while pushing myself with being consistent.

Are there any books you want to read or have on your list for this year?

I would love for you to share them with me!  I’m open to changing books if I feel like they were meant for me for next month (I already have next months picked out but I’m open to something else if its meant to be).
