Book Review: The Healing Code By Alexander Loyd

I read The Healing Code by Alexander Loyd with a very skeptic mind and heart.  How could a book like this change my thinking? Change me from the inside out?

One of the promoters in ViSalus told me to check it out, so I ordered it through Amazon. Yes, I am an Amazon-holic.

Anyway,The Healing Code talks about why you do the things you do. It addresses why you are depressed, overweight, happy, sad, or whatever you are and it goes through explaining the psychological and the physiological sides so you understand what you need to do to fix it. It also explains the importance of your energy and how it can help you to break through the barriers of what and how you’re feeling to become better.

After a week of performing the healing codes, I noticed there was a huge shift in my attitude and how I view myself.  Things I wasn’t happy with, I was beginning to let go and things were turning around.  Attitude and a lack of confidence that creeps back in sometimes, hadn’t crept back in.  It was nice not waking up and having that anxious feeling for the day.

I also liked how I was able to get to know the author and how he talked about his issues that his wife faced and overcame with the techniques he teaches in this book.  It confirmed my belief in the codes and it confirmed my ability to get over issues.  It could definitely help you if you’re open to wanting to be better and wanting to take care of yourself.

While this is my review, I do suggest you read the reviews on Amazon aboutThe Healing Code.  They had some great reviews which was another reason I bought the book too.  I do suggest you read them but remember every situation is different so read them but take it like as a grain of salt.

So all in all, I think its a great book and I would definitely read it all, don’t skip pages though LOL.

If you have read this book please share your thoughts and if it has helped you to overcome things.

Groceries With $60 Or Less Each Week

Over the past year I have evaluated how I eat and what I bring in to my house for my children.  Now, I am nowhere near the obsessed, you will never touch a chip or chocolate again sort of person, but I  have reduced our processed foods significantly (don’t judge me, I love me some Pasta Roni) and have evaluated what we eat each week and I know that we can get healthy foods for reasonable prices.

It is interesting because so many people who I talk to about eating healthier or for Visalus say that they can’t afford it, but the truth is  you just aren’t ready to eat healthier.  If you wanted to, you really could and I will show you how.

Here is an estimated grocery list for a family to eat.

Meat:

  • Lean (93%) Ground Beef (or ground turkey)
  • Boneless skinless chicken breast
  • Boneless Pork chops
For meat, I would choose 1 or 2 of those selections. We usually get a bag of chicken (8.00) plus a big thing of pork chops or ground beef depending on the week and I separate the meat as soon as I get it so that would be $10 so for meat we will say around $18, if you choose 2 meats for the week.
  • Potatoes: $4 for a bag and you can make:  baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, smothered potatoes, baked potato french fries
  • Veggies:  Steam-able vegetables.  Most places offer a 10 for $10 other wise they usually range from $1.08-$1.75 and if you don’t use them one day you can reheat them the next day.  We will allocate $10 for that.
  • Beans:  I have just started getting in to beans and they are super inexpensive and have  good protein and fiber for you.   A couple bags of those are about $3 – $3.50 and if you don’t eat them all you can freeze them for a meal later on.
Veggies that are fresh would be bell peppers if you want to snack on them.
So far we are at $35.
Fruits:
  • Grapes (if they are on sale) $4 for 2lbs.
  • Oranges $3 for a bag
  • Bananas $.44 per lb, we will get 3lbs so around 1.30
  • Or supplement for the fruits that you want.
Snacks:
  • Crackers $3
  • Graham Crackers $3
  • Or fruit that you already have which will save you money
With that you still have around $5-10 left over.  Now this isn’t exact and I didn’t use a calculator because I’m in the middle of rolling the ball back and forth with Cam, but I wanted to finish this because I thought it was important for people especially those on a tight budget.
I also allocate about $100 month for my Visalus shakes and with most meals I sprinkle it on them because the protein is wonderful for me and my family.   Please share what some of your meals are and how much you pay each week and if this would work for you.  This works for a family of 4.  What works for you?
