But You Don’t Know What I’ve Been Through….

I hate hearing that. You’re right, I don’t know what you have been through.  I don’t live your life every day.  I don’t even know where you live, LOL.  But I have been through my own stuff.  You don’t know where I’ve been and I’ve been through a lot.

At one point, I didn’t know how I was going to pay my electricity and it even got shut off.  I was on food stamps, I didn’t know how I was going to pay for gas to get to work, I racked up credit cards and my credit was shot.  Who cares where you were… where are you going?  It doesn’t matter what I did back them, I am focused on what I am going to create for my health, future and my kids.

Something had to click inside of me. I deserved more, my kids deserved more.  This weekend, Jason O’Toole (he went from being over $100,000 in debt to making over $100,000 PER MONTH) from ViSalus gave the best speech about people.

He said something that really sat with me and I hoe it sits with you. He said, “How you do this, is how you do everything else.”  If you give up on this, I bet you’ve tried to start and stop 1000x times.  Stop giving up, stop quitting on yourself, stop quitting on your kids.

Oh now here you go right? But that’s not what I’m doing and I am certainly NOT giving up on my kids. Bull shit. Every time you tell your kids you can’t do something, you can’t afford it, you can’t go out to play with them because you’re tired, you can’t do this, you can’t do that, then you’re giving up on them.

Stop living in the past, stop giving up, stop MAKING EXCUSES.

Want to lose weight and you want someone to hold you accountable? I’m here. I’m not going to listen to your excuses, but I am here to help you become better. Create your opportunities for you, for your family and for your health.

7 Day Cleanse – How To Lose 5-10lbs

So I have a mommy weight loss group on Facebook and we all support each other with healthy eating tips, work out tips, motivation, etc.  Well, a lot of us have decided to do a cleanse.  At first, I was going to do the Master Cleanse and I realized I cannot drink lemonade mixed with maple syrup and cayenne pepper for 5 days… this girl does not work that way :) .

So today, one of my mommy friends posted a different cleanse.  She posted about a 7 Day Cleanse that she did and I had never heard of it before. While the goal for some is to lose 10lbs in 7 days, that is NOT my intentions. I honestly just want to get rid of  buily up toxins out of my body and I want to try something new, but I am not going to risk losing all of my muscle built up because of my lack of protein. So I have altered the days a little to get that added protein in. Also, I will be maintaining a minimum of a 1200 Calorie diet and I will be monitoring it through My Fitness Pal.  Here is the agenda for the 7 Day Cleanse:

Day 1

This is a fruit only day, except for bananas. You do NOT eat bananas but any other fruit that you want to eat. I will be stocked up with kiwi, watermelon, grapes, cantaloupe, blueberries, mangos, strawberries, raspberries, plums, apples etc.

For breakfast and lunch I will have one of my delicious Body By Vi shakes (go check them out! They really do taste like cake and you get FREE coaching from me!) mixed with either orange juice (no pulp and no sugar added) or water.  I won’t add fruits to the shakes though.

For my snacks and dinner, it will be all fruit, all day :)

I will be drinking 80-100oz of water to flush out the toxins as well. Another thing I will be drinking is Green Tea. Green Tea is one of the healthiest weight loss drink. If you have around 3 cups a day, you could burn 80 calories just by drinking green tea. Not bad huh?

Day 2

Veggie Day!  What I read is that you want to stay away from starchy vegetables like beans, peas and corn.  Any other veggies, bring it on!  You can have a baked potato with a little butter too :) .

Veggies I will have: Carrots, broccoli, cabbage, kale (in my shake), cauliflower, green peppers, red peppers, orange peppers, yellow peppers, celery and cucumbers.

Again, I’ll have my 2 shakes,  1 will have kale in it and the other will be plain. I’ll have 80-100oz of water and 3-5 cups of Green Tea.

Day 3  (Check out my Day 1-3 update here)

Veggies and Fruit day.  No baked tater today…sorry!  Any fruits, except bananas and any veggies and try not to eat starchy veggies.

My 2 shakes, water and tea are still on my agenda :)

Day 4

Today is supposed to be banana and yogurt day, but I hate milk (except for almond milk) and what do I hate more than milk? Yogurt! So today is where I’m going to change it up.

I will be eating 8-10 bananas today and I will have 3-4 shakes plain. I figured they are healthier than yogurt and I’ll be getting in my almond milk.

I will still have my water and tea.

Oh, random break… I would add some working out too.  Here is what I’m doing this week for my weekly workout.  Now back to the diet.

Day 5

Fowl and Tomatoes day. So today is going to be hard and easy. You can eat chicken and turkey and 6 tomatoes.  It says that you should drink 8oz of water after each tomato you eat to wash the uric acid out of your body.

Chicken is not going to be a problem, I love love love chicken. I could live off of that and spaghetti for the rest of my life. I do not like tomatoes, so I am going to have to be creative about eating it.

Water and tea are the same.

Day 6

Fowl and veggies.  You get chicken, turkey and all the veggies you want, except no potatoes today. This is a pretty self-explanatory day and another one that will be easy for me :)

Water and tea still the same. I’ll have 80-100oz and 3 glasses of green tea.

Day 7 (check out my day 4-7 update here)

MIRACLE SOUP!  So today you create a miracle soups.

Ingredients:

  •  2-3 onions chopped
  • 1 head of cabbage chopped
  • 1 green pepper chopped
  • 5-6 celery stalks chopped
  • 2 large cans of diced tomatoes
  • 2 packages of Lipton Beefy Onion Soup Mix

Put all hte chopped veggies in a big pan.  Add the tomatoes (after you have blended them in a blender for a minute) and stir together.  Put 4-6 cups of water, it should barely cover the veggies. Cook for 10 minutes and then add the Onion Mix and cook until veggies are tender.

If you are looking for a great protein shake to go with this cleanse, please check out my ViSalus shakes and what they do for you. They are amazing and you get a whole private FB support system and FREE coaching from me.

Need motivation to get started with this, go check out my blog on changing.

Or better yet, do you need coaching?  If you can’t do this alone and you need help, check out my coaching options.

DISCLAIMER:  I will not and do not suggest under 1200 calories with this diet, but I think that “shocking” your body once would help it off of that weight loss plateau.  I DO NOT recommend this more than once or twice.  You do not want to deprive your body of true nutrients.  I also do take a multi-Vitamin and Vitamin D as well.

Enjoy!

Recipe of the Week – Vi Chicken Stir Fry

This is one of my absolute favorite recipes to make and it is so delicious!

Ingredients:

  • 1lb cut up chicken
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper (chopped to your liking)
  • 1 Red Pepper (chopped to your liking)
  • 1 Yellow Pepper (chopped to your liking)
  • 1 Orange Pepper (chopped to your liking)
  • 1 Onion (chopped to your liking)
  • 3 teaspoons of Teriyaki sauce (check the labels and get low sodium)
  • 1 teaspoon Stir-Fry sauce (low sodium too)
  • 1-2 cups of brown rice depending on how many people who are eating your delicious goodies
  • 1 scoop of our ViSalus Vi-Shape Nutritional Shake Mix

Let’s look at the directions:

  1. Spray the pan with Pam (or generic one like we use) and then cook the chicken both sides til browned.  While the chicken is cooking, chop up your veggies if you haven’t. Also, add whatever veggies you like, sometimes we use broccoli, sometimes we buy a frozen stir fry pack.  Do what works for you :)
  2. Once the chicken is cooked, add the veggies to the chicken and cover for a few minutes.  Once the veggies are warm, add the Teriyaki sauce and mix and cover for a few minutes until the veggies get tender. Sometimes you might need to add a touch of water so the veggies don’t stick, but feel it out.
  3. Make the brown rice
  4. Add the teaspoon of Stir-Fry sauce and the Vi Shake mix to the stir fry, let simmer for a few minutes and then serve over brown rice.  Voila!

Let me know what you think :) .  It is super delicious!

If you want to order shakes, let me know, it is great to get that extra protein in meals and I’m able to sneak it in and add that sweet taste so my kids don’t even know its there :)

Listen To Your Fear, Stop Trying

Doubting ourselves and fear holds you back from your goals Self-doubt and fear are the voices in our head telling us, “You’ll never succeed, so why try?” and “who do you think you are?” Self-doubt and fear are also what make us listen to those voices and decide to give up before we get started. Even though some people might have self-doubt and fear at some point in their lives, they take action anyway. Others, not so much. They remain stuck, or are confident in only one area of their life, such as work. They are way too afraid to try something new.  Going back to school, starting a business, meeting someone new or making a new friendship is out of the question. If we let that doubt and fear rule our thoughts and our lives, we miss opportunities. We assume that nothing good will happen, so we don’t even take a risk for something super small.  Well what happens then? It leads to us criticizing others and pushing us away from people who could help us lose weight, help people or meet our personal goals we set for ourselves.

The Nasty Cycle of Doubt and Fear

I know what it’s like to live with that doubt and fear. I grew up in a lower income to middle class family in Madison, Wi (Go Badgers!).  A moment that shaped my fear and my brain was when I was in the second grade. I invited a girl named Rachel to my birthday party and she said she wanted to come. Her mother called and told my mom she wasn’t coming.  When I asked her why, she said her mom said she shouldn’t hang out with poor people.  I didn’t know what poor was, but I knew we weren’t rich. We lived in a townhouse and I always had food on the table, but at that moment when she told me that, I think the self-doubt was programmed in my head.  I could never be rich, I could never be “like them.” As I got older, I would see Rachel hanging out with the kids who were from the rich areas and I knew I wasn’t poor, my parents bought a house and we lived fine. I had food and clothes and I got 75% of what I asked for.

I was smart, I had really close friends but somehow  I still had my voices telling me: “You’ll never make it. You’ll never be popular, you’ll never be rich.” I felt I wasn’t as good as other people because I didn’t have the money and nice clothes that some of the “Rachel” girls had. I let that fear and self-talk sabotage me.  Through leaving jobs where I knew I would excel to leaving college early because I told myself I wasn’t good enough, I would never be “that” girl.  Something had to change, could I break my cycle of self-doubt so I could teach my kids how to work through if they ever had something like that happen to them?

Change It

I had to learn to change my attitude about myself.  I had to change my thought process, get through my self-doubt and fear.  To help get over that fear and really own your life, check out my article here. I would read about people who had done just as I needed to do.  It doesn’t happen overnight, it takes time. I started distancing myself from negative people without goals and who only found fault in the world. I knew that if I took certain actions, my mind and emotions would follow. I let go of people who negatively influenced my life. I told myself that I was important, and began to plan and achieve my goals. I learned to have faith in my ability.

I gave up drinking every weekend and began exercising and eating well. I still have drinks every now and again but I do find that alcohol changes me. Also, I started hanging out with positive people. The people who I hung out with were also trying to  change themselves for the better. They weren’t making excuses, they wanted more out of life. You know what? My life began to improve. I didn’t see myself as a victim anymore.  I let go of things my parents said that really hurt me, that Rachel said, and the doubt that I told myself. I stopped comparing myself to other people and began to really let myself open up to new opportunities. Now, I am creating amazing content, coaching and I am doing amazing in my direct sales company. Learning from my life and others, I’m teaching my kids to believe in themselves, to understand their feelings, and not be afraid of their fears.

Here are some of the things I used to help me get through my fears:

  • Make a list of your fears. If you admit they exist, you will find a solution
  • Write down how they affect your life.  What is it holding you back from?
  • Write down the negative self-talk you hear and become more aware of what that talk is saying
  • Start associating with supportive people.   When you stop associating with negative people, your self-talk will change
  • Join a support group of people who have similar issues. They can help you overcome your issues
  • Change each negative message to one that is affirming and constructive.
  • Read books that help you feel better about yourself.  Now, I believe that motivational books are wonderful, but I also think you should take time to reflect
  • Reflect about your life.  Every millionaire, every successfully and wildly happy person reflects about their life and what they do well and can do better
  • Be aware of your past, and be willing to let go of it. Your past is not going to fix you, get over it and move forward (I’m still working on this)
  • List your goals and the actions you need to achieve them.  If you don’t write your goals down, you won’t achieve. It’s as simple as that.
  • Take an action from above each day.  I know this isn’t going to be something that changes over night. I am still working on it, but taking one step at a time will get you closer to that positive thoughts, positive vibes and losing that self-doubt.

This is what helped me to  believe in myself.  If I did not create a better environment for me to flourish in I wouldn’t be so successful with ViSalus, I wouldn’t be able to help people and I wouldn’t be able to show my kids how I love myself.  You can do it too! I am here to help you if you need it!

Don’t Miss Your Life

This song really hit home with me.  I hope it resonates with you too.  So many of us feel that the 9-5 is what we are supposed to do.  But what do we miss with our kids? Our life?

I know some of us don’t have it to the extent Phil Vassar would, but still.  We go through these motions believing that we need to do so much, be so much for our kids.  All our kids want is for us to be there.  That is what they want, for us to BE THERE.

This opportunity that ViSalus and the Body By Vi 90 Day Challenge has given me is my life back.  I love being able to stay home with my kids.  We are so close to qualifying for our BMW.  That means that ViSalus would give us $600/month for our BMW that we choose or for Chad, since he wants his dream truck, he would get $300/month towards any car that he wants. Pretty cool, right?

We get paid weekly, with bonuses and we get to help people. One of my friends lost 9lbs in one week from taking 2 shakes, 3 snacks and one meal of whatever she wanted. Because of me helping people and not being afraid, she lost that weight. BOOM!

All of that to say, there are some amazing opportunities out there for you, for your family. I know its scary trying something new and putting yourself out there, but remember your why.  Don’t be afraid to take the next step if you want to start your own business or promote something as easy as the challenge and make money while helping people.

I would love to hear about your dreams. If working is your dream, what is your dream job?  If owning your own business is your dream, what kind of business?  Share with me, would love to hear it!
